Tucson PBIS Training Packages

People PyramidAre student behaviors at your school a barrier to learning?  Would you like to unite your staff with a consistent approach to behavior management?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a research-based, school-wide systems approach to improve school climate and create safer and more effective schools. Since 2003, the Tucson PBIS Initiative in the College of Education has offered training for school-wide PBIS. With grant funding support, the UA LINKS staff has trained over 80 schools in Southern Arizona. Of the schools trained in the past three years, about 90% of them are actively implementing PBIS.

To support schools, we have developed materials, trainings, workshops, online training modules, and webinars. We have found that several processes increase implementation success including a planning process, baseline assessment of school climate, an audit of the PBIS program every spring, a planning meeting in the summer to review the audit and regular celebrations for core teams and administrators.

Though we have experienced severe funding cuts, we are able to provide training and support for:

Schools new to PBIS
Schools with lapsed PBIS programs
Schools currently implementing PBIS

The training and support opportunities include:

Planning and implementation training
Coaching/Consulting
Conferences and workshops
Data collection training and support
Staff inservices
